Pontins in Prestatyn North Wales became the home for Mike Peters and The Alarm for an amazing weekend 29th-31st Jan 2010. The whole weekend was a roller coaster ride from  start to finish.Mike and his family worked tirelessly to ensure that the weekend was so memorable in many ways.14 different "gigs" were presented by a good number of different bands.Mike threw himself into the weekend with huge amounts of energy. He gave so  much time and respect to his family of gatherers making every one of them feel special and proud to be part of his musical family.

Colin enjoyed seeing Mike give a well planned accoustic set covering all aspects of his career followed by The Alarm playing the album "Feel Free" in its entirety along with some extras. Dave Sharp the former Alarm lead guitarist played a great gig into the early hours of Saturday morning. He was joined by ex Damned keyboard player Mark Taylor.

Colin joined the tour bus on Saturday morning for a trip around Rhyl and Prestatyn visiting Alarm sites reflecting the lives of Mike , Dave , Eddiie and Nigel ( the original Alarm). This was followed by the gatherers being able to see 15  guitars from all stages of Mike's life. Not only that but they were able to hold and play them with loads of photo opportunities.

Colin joined about 20 other gatherers to play "Knockin' on Heavens Door" as Mikes backing band while he sang the words. This was a truly mind blowing experience and a unique opportunity to do something musically special.Colin is still waiting for the cheque Mike!!!!!!

A very full and thorouhgly planned Alarm Mastermind quiz was enjoyed by all.Colin's team were runners up and very proud of this as they had never met before .Colin thanks Karen ,Nat and Clive for allowing him to join them.

A battle of the bands was won by Shoot The Poets  who opened for Mike later in the evening. The Alarm set on Saturday night was exceptional-almost 2hours 45 minutes of fantastic music.Stuart Cable( ex Stereophonics) played a full in your face gig with his band Killing For Company to a very appreiciative audience.

mike's Galm Rock band The Children of the Revolution played an early morning gig of 70's classics having only had about an hours rest after their main gig as The Alarm.

On Sunday Mike had arranged a bone marrow saliva drive -the first of its kind in Wales. Colin then joined Mike for a walkathon to raise an awareness for The Love Hope and Strength Foundation which is rock music's biggest charity. Mike has come through 2  battles with cancer. He and James Chpperfield formed The L.H.S. Foundation to raise money for loclal and international projects.

MIke finished the weekend by signing every photo, album , dvd , shirt etc and posing with fans for countless photos. Colin would like to thank Mike and The MPO for all their hard work and commitment to make Gathering 18 the best yet. Roll on 2011.
